The Cello

The cello is the second largest, member of the violin consort consisting of a non-fretted fingerboard and four strings tuned in perfect fifths. The cello is usually played with a bow, but at times may be plucked using a technique called pizzacatto. The cello is a tenor instrument playing slightly higher than that of the string bass.
